On a meaningful life

Just something I was thinking about. too busy to post artwork right now :(

"This is an old representation right? Atlas with the world. Well its a representation that says that's the proper way to live. That the way you live properly,so that you can withstand the nature of your own being is to pick up a load that's heavy enough so that if you carry it you can have some self respect.

That's a very weird idea because its frequently the case that people do everything they can to lighten their load, but the problem with carrying a light load is that you have nothing useful to do, all you have around you is meaningless suffering. and there's nothing worse for your soul than meaningless suffer.

If you look around you'll see the people you respect and I don't mean the ones you think about respecting. I mean the ones that your gut, your whole being, your embodied being tells you to respect. You'll see that its always people who've picked up something heavy and are carrying it successfully. You'll think now THAT'S what it means to be a human being. and when you see that you can think, well perhaps life is worthwhile despite the fact that the essential nature of life is suffering"

Here's the new batch. Its hard to not see flaws in your own work isn't it? But that's okay I believe very deeply in showing your work, for several reasons. for one as Pascal Campion suggests, art isn't finished until someone else sees it. and secondly because the only way you over come your fears and insecurities is by voluntarily accepting them. By the way that's the meaning behind many religious stories and myths. Voluntary exposure to suffering and acceptance of your own vulnerability. Carl Jung often talked about the individuated man, and that the point of existence was to find something that you found meaningful to do with your time and to keep doing that thing, whatever it may be. Doing meaningful work with your life, is how you become a real individual. One that is capable of standing up to tyranny....I really believe that. lots of reasons for that.... holy shit I can go on forever. anyway here are some drawings. two of them will be paintings soon! and I will beg Jean for help with colors :D
